2025 Isuzu MU-X revealed with polarising new face
The facelifted 2025 Isuzu MU-X has been revealed, with the Thai-market SUV previewing visual and technology updates that are likely to filter down to Australian-market models.
Its mid-life facelift comes four years after the current generation Isuzu MU-X went into production and just a few months after that D-Max The ute twin also saw a host of updates.
“The facelifted MU-X recently launched in Thailand on June 12 is a specification limited to vehicles produced for that market and we are subsequently unable to comment on that vehicle or market,” an Isuzu Ute Australia spokesperson told CarExpert.

“We are also unable to comment on future model plans, timings or specifications for future Australian vehicles. As soon as we confirm the information, we will share it with the market.”
With the MU-X being a top 20 model in the Australian sales race, it seems likely we’ll get the updated version.
The updated D-Max arrived Down Under seven months after its debut in Thailand, suggesting we can expect a 2025 launch for the facelifted MU-X.
In Thailand, the SUV underwent a major facelift at the front, with new headlights, a completely different grille design, a fog lamp bezel and a lower radiator opening among the changes.
Although the design of the rear is largely unchanged, the taillights are now joined by a trim covering the entire width of the tailgate, necessitating the adoption of a smaller Isuzu badge.
Inside, there’s an updated 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen across all grades, compared to the 7.0-inch unit in the base MU-X LS-M, and now featuring physical buttons.
This system can support wireless Android Auto in addition to the existing wireless functionality of Apple CarPlay.
A 7.0-inch digital instrument panel on high-spec models replaces the current model’s 4.2-inch central display.
The analog dials are still present, but they are smaller to accommodate the larger screen.
The interior trim has also been revised, with ‘Truffle Brown’ leather available on some high-end variants.
Rear Cross Traffic Assist replaces the detection system on current examples and is able to apply the brakes when an object is in its path.
There’s also a surround view camera instead of a regular reversing camera.
Thai models also note safety features previously seen on Australian models, such as lane keep assist and lane centering.
There appear to be no changes under the bonnet, with a choice of two turbodiesel four-cylinder engines powering the MU-X range.
The 1.9-litre continues to produce 110kW of power and 350Nm of torque, while the 3.0-litre develops 140kW and 450Nm.
Both engines are mated to six-speed automatic transmissions and are available in both 4×2 and 4×4 versions.
