Brony James was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, joining the team his father, LeBron James, played for the past six years.
If he and the older James take the court together next season, it will mark the first time a father-son duo will play on the same team at the same time.
The first round of the NBA Draft came and went on Wednesday night without Brony James being drafted at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The Lakers selected No. 55 in the second round on Thursday.

Brony James wrote on an Instagram story that he was “extremely blessed” to be drafted by the Lakers.
James’ limited basketball resume includes one season at USC where he averaged 4.8 points per game in 25 contests, mostly coming off the bench.
His short college career began late after he suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed during practice at USC on July 24. He was diagnosed with a treatable congenital heart defect, his family said, and was cleared to play again.
A heart scare set James back, however, and he didn’t play until Southern Cal’s ninth game of the season.
LeBron James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, has until Saturday to decide whether he wants to stay with the Lakers, where he has played since 2018-19.
He’s long been open about playing alongside his son, though he’s played down that goal for the generation recently.
While NBA fans have seen several father-son duos over the years, most notably shooting guards Dell and Steph Curry, none have been on the floor at the same time.
At the ancient basketball age of 39, James remains one of the most dynamic players in the game.
He’s even become a legitimate three-point shooting threat in recent years, shooting 41 percent last season. That surpassed the league average of 36.6 percent and even beat Curry’s 40.8 percent efficiency from downtown.
