PR queen Roxy Jacenko to refund 7000 people who purchased bootcamp package
PR queen Roxy Yatsenko has pulled out of a controversial promotion that promised to give away a $10 million house to a lucky winner.
She announced a refund for 7,000 Roxy’s Bootcamp customers on social media overnight.
Jacenko teamed up with two other people for the promotion, which advertised prizes including a $10 million house, $250,000 in prize money, a Birkin bag and a Rolex watch.
Anyone who purchases a Roxy’s Bootcamp package will be entered into the giveaway.
However, in a shock twist, Jacenko announced that it would refund those who purchased the package from March 8 to May 11 while the promotion was running, as it could not be certain that what customers bought could be delivered.
“I can’t put my name on something I have no control over,” she captioned a video posted on Instagram.
In her video announcing the refund, she said she would personally make sure people get their money back.
“It’s really important for me to hold my head up, stand my ground and make sure that every single one of you who bought a package gets a refund,” Yatsenko said.
“I want to sleep at night and I want to know that I did what was right.
“No matter what dispute a business is having, the general public should not fall victim to it.”
“A full refund from me personally will begin on Monday.”
Jacenko said the refund may take some time and will come from her bank account.
“Because the bank account of Roxy’s Bootcamp, which I am not a director of, is not accessible to me, but there are also no funds available for me to support a full refund to every person who has purchased,” she said.
Courses will remain open and available to those who purchased a package even after the refund is processed, Yatsenko said.
