Sunday with Fearne Cotton: ‘Once our kids start work, we’re going to do a gap year’ | Sunday with…

What do you hate most about Sundays? Probably the fact that I haven’t laid down in 13 years. I met my husband Jesse Wood 13 years ago. He came into my life with two wonderful children, my step children, and now I have children of my own. All the liars are out the window.

Sunday 20 years ago? I must be really feeling sorry for myself. I would be at a concert, at a bar, or at a friend’s house. Lots of coupons. So, Sunday would lie hungover. But these are now dim distant memories.

Hangover from last Sunday? At my wedding 10 years ago. I woke up with a pounding head. One of the hotel managers insisted that I had hair from the dog cocktail out of a shoe-shaped cup, which was awful. We didn’t go on a honeymoon; I went straight back to Radio 1 on Monday.

Will you ever go on a honeymoon? Jesse and I said that once our children, who are now eight and 11, go to university or start work, we will take a gap year. I would like to visit Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Bali… that part of the world.

Time for me on Sunday? Probably some deep breathing after dropping my kids off at a sporting event or play date. I get so little free time, it’s crazy.

Sunday meal? We love a hearty Sunday lunch. Jesse is in love with his pizza oven. I make dessert: a large brownie pan, Vicki sponge cake, chocolate mousse or key lime pie. I love making puddings.

Best festival moment? Glastonbury! I met my husband shortly before we went together, so we fell in love there.

Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place Festival is at Chiswick House, London on 13-14 July and Tatton Park, Knutsford on 31 August and 1 September
